This was both an incredibly sad day and an incredibly proud day for Canada! It was a hard day, yet a good day. It was painful, yet triumphant. This day will go down in our history as a time when Canada came together and showed a level of national pride that we have not seen in many years. We share in the pride and love we have for our fallen comrade at arms who was killed on duty at the National War Memorial (Canadian Tomb of the Unknown Soldier). Thankfulness and honor is the only proper response for the service of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and all of those in uniform who put their lives on the line for our freedom. Canada’s military put on a display of immense pride and dedication to our country during Nathan’s very emotional funeral procession. Once our soldier’s casket arrived there was a humbling silence with only the sound of a soft breeze until the soldiers yelled out the orders and in unicen turned to face the casket. It was at this time that Nathan’s mother Catherine began to cry intensly and the crowd immediately followed with tears paving this downtown street of Hamilton. It was an emotional day and yet it was one very proud day to be Canadian!
